Does the app require an internet connection?+
For basic use โ capturing drawings, recording voice, and storing memories โ no internet connection is needed. AI story generation and illustration features require an internet connection and your own API key.
Where is my data stored?+
Everything is stored on your device. We have no access to your drawings, voice recordings, stories, or any other content you create. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
Do I need to create an account?+
No. My Mini Canvas requires no account, no email registration, no sign-in. Just install and start capturing.
How does the AI story generation work?+
When you tap 'Create Story', the drawing's title and your child's voice transcription (but never their name) is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI using your own API key. The story is returned and saved locally on your device. Your key is stored in your device's Keychain โ not on our servers.
What is an API key and do I need one?+
API keys are required for AI story and illustration features. You can get an Anthropic key at console.anthropic.com and an OpenAI key at platform.openai.com. Basic memory capture (drawing + voice + notes) works without any API key.
Can I export my memories?+
Yes. You can export individual memories as a beautiful storybook PDF, or export all memories at once as a Memory Book PDF from Settings. Share via AirDrop, email, or print.
Is the app COPPA compliant?+
Yes. We never collect children's personal information. All data stays on your device. Voice is processed on-device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
The app locked me out โ what do I do?+
My Mini Canvas uses Face ID or Touch ID to protect your memories. If biometrics fail, use your device passcode. You can disable App Lock in Settings within the app.
